Western Stima staged a come-from-behind victory over Mathare United that kept the power men four points behind league leaders Tusker FC in the Kenya Premier League title race.
Mathare United Tyson Otieno had given the visitors the lead in the fourth minute with a well-curved shot but a strike from James Ogada and a fine Henry Onyango curl effort put Stima on the winning seat.
Salim Babu in his post-match interview heaped praise on the opponent as he felt this was a perfect encounter for his players
“Mathare United are an incredible side, we knew it but we beat them,” said Salim Babu
“It was a typical high-level game. Our new signings played so well. In the most difficult period of the game we conceded an early goal and we had to change our tactics. It was a game of both halves once again, Mathare United dominated us in the first half but we rang changes that later stabilized our midfield in the second half,” concluded Salim Babu
The introduction of Festo Omukoto, Kevin Omundi, and Henry Onyango brought some stability and pace for the home side as Henry Onyango combined well with Omundi to give the power men a much-deserved winning goal.
Western Stima will travel to Nakuru to face Ulinzi Stars in their next assignment.
