Urusi Soccer Club produced a remarkable second-half comeback against Hema Moja to confirm division one playoffs position yesterday at the Moi Stadium.
Both sides fired blanks in the first half in a rather tough duel that saw the visitors playing cautiously behind the ball the entire first half.
Coming back from the break Urusi found themselves trailing by a goal in the 57th minute after Momanyi Boraya was set in by a well calculated through pass from Charlse Adero, Momanyi made no mistake and clinically placed the ball in to the bottom corner beating Johnston Walusula in goal for the home team.
The home team woke up from their slumber and started to stage attack after attack, real chance presented itself in the 68th minute after a pinpoint delivery was headed off the bar by Onyango Tom.
25 minutes minutes into proceedings at the Moi Stadium Captain Mapesa proved inspirational as he put up a captain’s performance full of character to restore parity. The skipper scored a nice goal after dodging four Hema Moja players inside the box to put the ball in the back of the net.
The visitors would succumb to pressure by letting in the second goal and third goal in a span of five minutes again Captain Mapesa provided the double assists to Fredrick Odero and Cyprian Mahungu to score the second goal and third goal.
The win propelled Urussi to the 3rd place with a 53 points.
Urussi will welcome Kibuye FC in their final match.
