Tough-talking Urusi FC braced for Sunday derby

It will be showdown on Sunday at Moi stadium Kisumu when Arch rivals Urussi FC and Amani FC face off in what is dubbed as the Lake side Derby. Both teams compete in the same league, National Division Two zone A.

Urussi who are placed at position three with a total of 47 points will have to face it out with a relatively strong Amani who are at position 6 having accumulated a total of 44 points.

Speaking to SR-Kisumu captain George Ade oozed confidence ahead of the derby

“We are very optimistic about reaching our goals, but now there are some things that we need to do better and that’s what we’ll really focus on, we can’t underrate Amani we’ve played before and we know how they go about with their game, we are taking nothing to chance it’s a must win situation for us” said captain George.

George who has been in the club for the last 15 years and has seen himself rise from the junior ranks to the senior team banked his confidence on his teammates has he believes attaining the playoffs position is not an uphill task for his teammates.

“The main reason the team is chasing for playoffs position is because of our under-performance in the first leg and that was majorly caused by unexpected injuries but now the lads are well and ready to roar” concluded the captain.

Both sides played to a stalemate in the first leg and will be hoping for a different result.

Urusi have been boosted by the return of first choice keeper Sunday John as they head to the much anticipated fixture.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 1PM

As another derby kicks off at 11AM pitting Yzone vs Kibuye FC
