After a disastrous first leg of the 2018 Kenya Women’s Premier League, Kisumu side Kisumu All-Starlets continued their resurgence with a 3-1 whipping of hosts Vihiga Leeds at the Mumias Sports Complex on Sunday 14th.
In-form Bertha Omita was on target for the ladies and so were Sarah Juma and Sally Ayoo. Laura Asembu scored Leeds’ only goal of the match.
It all started last weekend when the league came from a two month break as Starlets spanked Nairobi giants Makolanders 4-1 at the Moi Stadium, and today’s win takes them another three points to the good; from 16 to 19 points and they also enter the top ten of the 16-team log.
Sarah Juma broke the deadlock from a decent Sarah Chepkemei cross. Sally Ayoo would rise to make it 2-0 from a Bertha Omita corner kick. Vihiga Leeds pulled one goal back from the spot through Laura Asembu but the final nail on their coffin would be driven Omita herself who now has three goals from two matches in the second leg.
