Lakers hockey team hope that the form which led them back from defeat against Multi Media University will help them against visiting Kenyatta University on Saturday.
The Kisumu side who are at position two with 15 points in the Kenya Hockey Union Women Super League, will take on the league leaders Kenyatta University this weekend.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, Lina Baraza, the captain- oozes confidence ahead of the crunch match.
“We are in a good position, and we are not taking it lightly. The girls are hungry to gain the promotion to the Premier League and they are not ready to let any moment go out of their hand. Our goals for and against are not so good but we have been working in our defending and shooting in training for quite some time now. Our hunger to defend is evident in our home matches as we are yet to lose or even concede a goal at home. KU is a tough team and we are preparing hard to finish off our league matches on a winning note,” she talks to SR Kisumu.
The team manager John Paul Otieno knows how much his visitors tomorrow will want a win but insists he will be going for the full share himself. Keeping in mind the students’ discipline at the back, this is a match he cannot take lightly he says.
“It’s an important match for us tomorrow as we take on the League leaders they don’t want to drop points the same way we also don’t want to drop points. The students are really strong and tactically disciplined , and we cannot take them lightly, they have only allowed two goals past their goalkeeper that shows how disciplined they are defensively”
Lakers Hockey Club will be riding high on home confidence and are upbeat about an impressive performance on Saturday
